We are USN (Unix Support Nederland), the Linux and Unix specialists. With 30 years of experience, we deliver practical, effective IT solutions. Our team of 20 professionals is backed by a network of more than 100 experts, known as the Friends of USN. Whatever the IT challenge, we offer solutions of the highest calibre.
How it began.
USN, Unix Support Nederland, started in 1991 with a group of technical people who met at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. Twenty nerds and one nerdette, as they called themselves, who had no appetite for salaried employment once they finished their studies. So what do you do instead, when you share a passion for technology? You find yourself a space where you can work with open source every day, purely out of love for Unix. And to pay the rent and earn a living, they started out in contract staffing.
From basement to office, gaming station included.
Large clients with demanding questions.
USN’s clients are large clients, often larger than we realise ourselves. We have good relationships with every one of them, which is not only pleasant but necessary. Because you, our engineer, often work with a client for a long stretch, a good rapport matters enormously. Naturally we work for clients with technically demanding, enjoyable and sometimes quite unusual assignments. We’re not modest on that front: we stand behind the quality, expertise and experience of our team. No job is too complicated or too large. If we don’t have enough experience in-house, we can draw on a warm and valuable network of hundreds of engineers, the Friends of USN, who stand alongside us. We bring them in to talk things through, to contribute ideas, or to check one last time that everything is right. Because who checks your work when you’re already the best at it? The Friends of USN are a reassuring backup. It’s often not even needed, but knowing it’s there is enough.
