About USN and this Privacy Statement

Unix Support Nederland B.V., hereinafter referred to as “USN”, is located at Laan van Kronenburg 14, 1183 AS Amstelveen, the Netherlands, and is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 27152479. This Privacy Policy contains important information about the processing of personal data when using USN’s services and our website. We recommend that you read the information below carefully. USN respects the privacy of its customers, the employees of its customers, job applicants and all other individuals whose personal data we process, such as visitors to our website. We therefore aim to handle such personal data with due care and in accordance with applicable privacy legislation, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Which personal data is processed, for what purposes is it used, and with whom might we share it?

This Privacy Policy applies to all personal data collected by USN for the services we provide, including managed services and contract staffing. In addition, we process personal data that is necessary for the use of our website and that you have provided to us yourself. By personal data, we mean personal data within the meaning of Article 4(1) of the GDPR. When you decide to use our services, we require certain data for communication purposes and in order to provide those services. Below we describe which personal data we process, for what purposes it is used, and on which legal basis it is processed.

We process the following data:

  • Contact details (name, address, postcode and city, email address and telephone number);
  • If you are a (potential) candidate, self-employed professional or job applicant, this may also include: date of birth, age, gender, curriculum vitae (CV), information about education, internships and work experience, data relating to assessments completed by you or through us, information about your availability and leave, and other information that may be relevant in assessing your suitability as a candidate, such as references and testimonials;
  • Data collected by Google Analytics regarding your browsing behaviour, internet browser and type of device;
  • Other personal data that you actively provide to us through messages or contact forms on our website.

We do not intend to process the personal data of children under the age of 16. We therefore ask you not to send us such personal data. We only process special categories of personal data where this is necessary to comply with legal obligations, or where it is otherwise permitted by or pursuant to law.  

Purposes:

USN uses your data for the following purposes:

  • to perform our services, such as contract staffing, managed services and software development;
  • to improve our website and services;
  • to comply with our legal obligations;
  • to communicate with you;
  • to assist you if you have any questions or complaints.

USN uses your personal data solely for these specific purposes and on the basis of the legal grounds set out in Article 6 of the GDPR:

  • legal obligation;
  • your consent;
  • legitimate interest.

There is no automated decision-making. We cannot provide you with the services if you do not wish to provide us with the personal data that is necessary for contractual and/or legal purposes.  

How is your data protected?

USN understands that keeping your personal data secure is important. The data stored in our database is protected using common, up-to-date electronic security techniques, in accordance with the applicable standards for data security.

How long is your data retained?

USN does not retain your data for longer than is necessary for the purposes for which it is processed. When we no longer need your personal data in connection with our services, we will delete it. Only if, and insofar as, we are required to retain personal data for a longer period, for example in order to comply with our legal obligations and/or obligations towards the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration, does a retention period of seven (7) years apply.  

Your rights

If we process your personal data, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data;
  • Obtain rectification of your personal data;
  • Delete your personal data;
  • Withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data;
  • Restrict the processing of your personal data;
  • Object to the processing of your personal data;
  • Exercise your right to data portability.

The above requests may be submitted at any time by sending an email to info@usn.nl.

USN will inform you of the action taken in response to your request as soon as possible, and no later than four (4) weeks after receiving it. To ensure that we provide the requested personal data to the correct person, we may ask you to verify your identity by providing a copy of a valid passport, driving licence or identity card, with your photograph and citizen service number (BSN) obscured. We will only process requests relating to your own personal data.

Sharing data with third parties

USN will not lend, rent, sell or otherwise disclose your personal data to third parties without your consent, unless we are required to do so by law, court order, regulation or any other legal obligation.

USN will only share your personal data with third parties insofar as this is necessary for the operation of our website and/or the provision of our services, taking into account the purposes described above. This may include engaging third parties to perform part of our contractual obligations, or the administrator of our website, to ensure that the website functions properly from a technical perspective.

Transfer to non-EU countries

Your personal data is stored and processed on servers located within the European Economic Area (EEA). USN does not transfer your personal data to countries outside the EEA.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file placed on the hard drive of your computer, tablet or smartphone when you visit our website. A cookie contains information that allows you to be recognised as a visitor each time you visit. To improve the ease of use of USN’s website, we may use cookies. You may refuse them at any time, although this may limit the functionality and ease of use of our website.

When you visit our website, cookies from third parties (such as Google) may also be placed on your device. By using USN’s website, you consent to the processing of information by these third parties in the manner and for the purposes described above. USN has no control over the placement and use of cookies by these third parties.

Our website also contains a button that allows web pages to be promoted (“liked”) on LinkedIn. This button works by means of code provided by LinkedIn itself, and cookies are placed through that code. We have no control over this.
